I’ve known Stephen for several years through our mutual interest in libertarian politics and activism. I’ve long been impressed by his commitment to the libertarian cause, his professionalism and his skill as an organiser and strategist for growth.
In these times, the most authoritarian of which most of us have ever experienced, Stephen’s abilities as a leader, and his vision for a truly free Scotland, are essential to bring libertarianism, the only real alternative to the tyranny we experience every day, to the fore.
Leadership without ego is essential for libertarian groups to thrive and in my experience that’s Stephen all the way. Stephen has always demonstrated to me that he is a man of genuine integrity, and his leadership-without-ego qualities are evident in his willingness to devote so much of himself to the cause.
Stephen’s view of fellow libertarians is one of equals, each with their own voice that deserves to be heard. In my view these qualities set Stephen apart as a man who can be trusted as a leader, one who will bring out the best in others, and sincerely recognise the essential contribution others make. That’s real leadership.
