Revelations - Part 1

Writer: Stephen McNamaraStephen McNamara

It's quite apparent that there have been quite a few people on social media looking for answers about my surprise termination in a very public manner and it's been very apparent that the Scottish Libertarian Party are continuing to refuse to give hard working and generous members an explanation. The main question boils down as to why there was no formal process. Why no official accusation? Why no formal meeting to address the accusation? Why a very public dismissal?

These points have been very heavily criticised by a few people on these social media platforms, Facebook especially. Bryce Hope, Katrina Angus and Caz Paul no less. It does beg the question why though. Why do they think they know the answers when they are only members like some of the people asking the questions earlier?

Perhaps the Chairwoman's statement will shed some light on the matter:

"Despite having spent more time in hospital in the last six months than out of it, I have tried to keep abreast of the conversations and give advice and guidance in how to arrange dealing with accusations. Sadly my advice to ensure a fair and transparent process, as well as have evidence of accusations and to allow for an opportunity for Stephen to respond to any allegations was ignored by the rest of the Constitutional Committee members."

Her statement goes on:

"On the evening of the 1st of April 2022, Peter Sidor proposed a vote for termination of Stephen's membership. This was followed up by two more votes for the termination of his membership the same evening. The next day at 16:56 the decision was declared settled."

So very democratic, if at least nothing else?

So why are these three members so very enthusiastically defensive of this decision? Could there be more to this?

It turns out there is...

"In a clear demonstration of this Committee's incompetent handling of things, an email had been sent to Peter Sidor to be passed on to the Committee with the instructions that I should not be given details of who sent or signed the letter attached. This was sent by Bryce Hope at 2:11 am on Sunday the 3rd of April and then forwarded on to the rest of the committee at 10:10pm that same day. The letter including a detailed complaint about Stephen was signed by Bryce Hope, Katrina Angus and Caz Paul. The email was not forwarded to, or discussed by the committee, until after the public announcement of Stephen's termination from the Scottish Libertarian Party."

So...

Does this explain these three think they know why I was terminated? Perhaps. But I wonder how they'd feel knowing that the Peter Sidor breached their trust with his incompetence? Are they still going to be so confident about their claims on social media that the process was fair? Is this just raising more questions than it has answered? Time will tell...
